You may want to copy another trader's positions at HFM, but you are unsure what you need to open, what it costs and how much control you keep. HFM Copy Trading (often searched as HFcopy) replicates a Strategy Provider's trades in your account. The follower minimum opening deposit starts from USD 10 on a Cent copy account.
This guide uses HFM's official copy trading pages, checked on 20 October 2026. It covers the three copy account types, the two copy methods, the performance fee and the risks. After reading, you can judge whether copy trading fits you and what to confirm in the client area.
HFM copy trading (HFcopy) in brief: what followers get
- Followers copy the trades of a Strategy Provider in real time, without placing those trades by hand
- Copy accounts come in three types: Cent, Premium and Pro
- Follower minimum opening deposit: USD 10 (Cent), USD 25 (Premium) or USD 100 (Pro), or the JPY equivalent
- Copy methods: Proportional or Multiplier, where available
- Followers keep control: set trade sizes and stop-loss levels, withdraw funds or unfollow
- Past performance does not guarantee future results
HFM's current official pages use the name "Copy Trading". The older "HFcopy" address now redirects to the Copy Trading page, so both names point to the same feature.
A Strategy Provider is the trader being copied. A Follower is the client whose account mirrors those trades. Terms and Conditions apply to both roles.
How HFM copy trading works for followers
- 01Register with HFM
Create your client account first. The applicable HFM entity and licence are shown at registration.
- 02Choose a Strategy Provider to follow
Browse the providers listing and compare the figures shown for each provider.
- 03Start copying
Once you follow a provider, the platform replicates their trades in your account in real time.
HFM states that you keep full control of your trading account while copying. You can set the capital you allocate, risk management settings, and stop copying at any time.
How to choose a Strategy Provider on the listing
The official follower page says you can choose providers from the listing based on four measures.
- Gain
- Maximum drawdown level (the largest fall from a peak in account value)
- Popularity
- Risk score
Providers are not named in this guide. Figures on the listing describe past trading only, and HFM's disclaimer says past performance does not guarantee future results.

Compare them on the account types page before choosing.
Proportional vs Multiplier: how copied lot sizes are calculated
Where available, followers choose how trades are copied. With Proportional, your trade size scales with the equity ratio between your account and the provider's. With Multiplier, your trade size is a fixed multiple of the provider's.
HFM publishes the following Copy Ratio formula:
- Copy Ratio = (Follower Equity / Strategy Provider Equity) x Volume Allocation x (Follower Account Leverage / Strategy Provider Account Leverage)
- The calculation is applied to each copied trade
HFM's worked example uses a provider with USD 5,000 equity who opens trades of 1 lot, 0.5 lot and 0.1 lot. The table shows the resulting follower sizes, assuming equal leverage on both accounts.
| Provider trade | Follower 1 (USD 400, 100%) | Follower 2 (USD 400, 50%) | Follower 3 (USD 10K, 100%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 lot | 0.08 lot | 0.04 lot | 2 lots |
| 0.5 lot | 0.04 lot | 0.02 lot | 1 lot |
| 0.1 lot | Below 0.01 lot* | Below 0.01 lot* | 0.2 lot |
※ *The formula gives 0.008 and 0.004 lot. HFM states that the 0.01 lot minimum is opened subject to the follower's approval and confirmation.
The example shows why a small account copying a large one often receives very small positions. The official pages do not explain further how Proportional and Multiplier differ in edge cases.
HFM strategy provider performance fee: what is stated
- Providers receive a performance fee of up to 50% on their overall gains
- Fees are calculated on overall gains and paid daily or weekly, according to the provider's preference
- A provider can hold multiple accounts with distinct settings
- Providers can collaborate with an HFM Partner, who earns a share set by the provider as a Collaboration Percentage
HFM describes the performance fee as the provider's reward for successful performance. The exact rate each provider sets, and how it is shown before you follow, is not stated in the pages checked.
The follower page lists the question "Is it free to use Copy Trading?", but the answer was not available in the text captured. Confirm the fee terms on the provider's profile and in the Copy Trading Terms and Conditions before you start.
Copy trading risks to check before you follow a provider
- Losses are copied too: a copied trade can lose as well as gain
- Leverage up to 1:1000 amplifies both gains and losses
- Positions close automatically at the 20% stop out level
- Tiny copied sizes may be rounded up to 0.01 lot only with your approval
- Figures such as gain and maximum drawdown describe past trading, not future results
- A provider's account can change or close; the official answer was not captured, so read the terms
HFM's own disclaimer reads: trading CFDs and Forex is risky, and past performance does not guarantee future results. Decide how much capital you can afford to allocate before you follow anyone.
The follower page also says you can follow multiple strategy providers to build a portfolio. Whether one follower account can follow only one provider is not stated in the text checked, so confirm it in the client area.
Which HFM copy account fits you: Cent, Premium or Pro
- If you want the smallest opening deposit, the Cent copy account starts from USD 10 for followers
- If you want standard 100,000-unit contracts at a moderate deposit, the Premium copy account starts from USD 25
- If you want a lower spread from 0.6 pips, the Pro copy account fits, with a USD 100 follower minimum and no MetaTrader 5
- If you plan to be a Strategy Provider instead, the minimums are USD 25 (Cent) and USD 100 (Premium, Pro)
The right choice depends on your deposit, platform and risk tolerance. Open the account types and deposit guides for the wider picture.
